Organic Chemistry, Coffee, and Bagels!
Are you planning on taking Organic Chemistry at some point in the future? Then this series of free events is designed for you. Come learn some basic foundations of Organic Chemistry in a relaxed environment with a seasoned professor all while eating bagels and drinking coffee! Registration is not required but appreciated so we know how many bagels and how much coffee to provide.

Meet the Team!
Dr. Jon Fritz
Jon has thirteen years of experience teaching Organic Chemistry at Aquinas College. In that time he has written numerous exams and quizzes and taught from several O-Chem. textbooks.
Jon often has crazy ideas and occasionally he acts on them. O-Chem., Coffee and Bagels is one of them.
He serves as the lead instructor, logistics specialist, and webmaster for these events. Multiple sources have verified he drinks too much coffee, but we'll overlook that this summer.
Dr. John Carter
Dr. Carter comes to O-Chem. Coffee and Bagels with significant background in Organic Chemistry. His Ph.D. is in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee with an emphasis on Synthetic Organic Chemistry. He also has 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry working for companies such as Bristol-Myers and Eisai Research.
He will be serving as our chemistry storyteller extraordinaire and will be helping students work through roadblocks during practice sessions.
Vanessa Bailey
Vanessa is a current junior at Aquinas College, pursuing a degree in health science with a pre-dental track. She currently serves as treasurer of the pre-health club and has worked as both a TA and a tutor for the sciences in the past. When not hitting the books, she can be found playing lacrosse or walking her dog, Jo. Her favorite bagel is asiago with plenty of cream cheese.
Vanessa will serve as one of our teaching assistants for the June 28th session.
Fr. Jordan DeGuire, O.P.
Fr. Jordan DeGuire, O.P., grew up in the Milwaukee area and loves all things Wisconsin. He met the Dominican friars in Madison, WI, while attending the University of Wisconsin, where he studied mathematics, economics, and religious studies. Fr Jordan taught high school math for a year before entering the Dominican Order, with whom he professed vows in 2017 and was ordained a priest in 2023. Fr Jordan also likes to run and to bake, two hobbies that offset each other nicely.
Father Jordan will be giving the opening prayer for us on June 28th.
